Life on Mars: A Guide to the Mightiest of Planets

For this project we had to interpret the topic of life on Mars. My goal for this book was to make a travel guide based on the attractions on Mars from the television series Futurama while including jokes from the show that only true fans would understand. By using the same typeface and color palette from the show’s title I am able to hint at the fact that this is based off Futurama without it being said.

There are 7 main attractions and a map of where they are located. Each attraction has its own front and back page. The front page has the name of the attraction, a tag line, an icon, and a background image. I decided to use halftone images to make the content appear less illustrative. The icon on the front is used to find the location on the map. The back cover includes a QR code that will take the viewer to a digital version of the travel guide, including an interactive map.
